Overview
The Harworth and Bircotes Neighbourhood Plan was formally adopted by Bassetlaw District Council following the referendum held on 3 December 2015. The Neighbourhood Plan forms part of the statutory Local Development Plan for Bassetlaw and shall be used when either applying for planning permission or determining planning applications within the Neighbourhood Area.
Work to review the Neighbourhood Plan commenced in autumn 2023, and independent examination concluded in January 2026, as detailed below.

Review - Examination stage (October 2025 onwards)
Independent examination of the reviewed Harworth & Bircotes Neighbourhood Plan concluded in January 2026, following publication of the Examination Report. The next step is to seek approval of the Examination Report by the District Council, expected to take place in March 2026.

Review - Submission Draft stage (September - October 2025)
The reviewed Harworth & Bircotes Neighbourhood Plan was the subject of six weeks of consultation with the public, stakeholders, and statutory bodies between Monday 15 September 2025 until 5 pm on Monday 27 October 2025.

Review - Pre-Submission Draft stage (May - June 2025)
In accordance with Regulation 14 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, the Pre-Submission Draft of the Harworth & Bircotes Neighbourhood Plan was the subject of public and stakeholder consultation between Tuesday 6 May and Tuesday 24 June 2025.
