New Housing Contractor brings Easter cheer to Bassetlaw Foodbank

A £500 donation of Easter Eggs and toiletries has been made to Bassetlaw Foodbank by Bassetlaw District Council’s new housing contractor McConnell.

They have made the contribution to the Shrewsbury Road Foodbank to outline their strong commitment to supporting local communities, alongside their operational responsibilities and building on the council’s social values.

Cllr Lynne Schuller, Cabinet Member for Housing and Estates said: “We welcome McConnell’s desire to give back to the community and to have a positive social impact in Bassetlaw throughout the duration of their contract.

“We look forward to working closely with them to maximise these benefits and strengthen support for our residents.”

McConnell will be carrying out refurbishment works to the council’s homes across the district with work including new kitchens, bathrooms, rewiring, boiler replacement, minor structural and remedial damp works.

Julian Sanz, Head of Social Value at McConnell said: “McConnell are proud to be working for Bassetlaw District Council and share their passion for supporting the community. 

“Bassetlaw Foodbank is a key resource for local families, and we hope this donation will being some much-needed help during a time of high demand. “

The donation to Bassetlaw Foodbank will provide vital support to local families and individuals, particularly during a period of increased need.

Laura Kennedy, Support Engagement Manager at Bassetlaw Foodbank said: “A huge thank you to the McConnell’s team! They saw our plea for toiletries, something we’d been low on for a few months, and decided to fill our shelves.

“We even received a bonus donation of Easter eggs, which was greatly appreciated.”
