Cllr Julie Leigh, Leader of Bassetlaw District Council.
We are once again inviting residents, businesses, and local stakeholders to share your views and help shape how we spend our budget for the year ahead.
Our Budget Conversation is now open, and we want to hear which services matter most to you and gather your ideas on how we can make potential savings.
Your feedback will play a crucial role in guiding our spending decisions and shaping the future of our budget.
Every year, we invest around £21 million to provide the services people rely on, support community initiatives, and deliver projects that make a real, positive impact across our area.
Those of you who take part in the survey also have the chance to win one of ten £25 Love2Shop vouchers. You can have your say by visiting www.bassetlaw.gov.uk/budget-2025 or pick up a hard copy from the council offices.
We have also been listening to those of you who have been calling for kerbside glass recycling collections.
You may have heard how we are getting ready to introduce this across the district, with six weekly collections getting underway from 30 March 2026.
In preparation, we will be delivering new black bins to your homes over the coming weeks, up until the end of February 2026.
As well as making it easier for you to recycle more of your waste, it is part of Simpler Recycling requiring all authorities and waste collectors to standardise and simplify recycling across the country.
You can find out when your new bin will be arriving, and how to use it, alongside frequently asked questions on our website www.bassetlaw.gov.uk/blackbins
I am sure you will have noticed over the last few weeks more and more festive decorations and gifts filling up shop shelves across the district as the holiday season approaches.
For our high street businesses, they are gearing up for what is traditionally one of their busiest times of the year. To help everyone get into the festive spirit, Worksop is preparing for its annual Christmas lights switch on taking place on 22 November.
Organised by North Notts BID it will once again feature a range of activities and entertainment at the Old Market Square from 12pm until 6:30pm. With the added benefit of free parking in all our council owned car parks from 1pm every day, I hope people will come and join in the festivities and support our local businesses.
