Proposed changes to council car parking published

Bassetlaw District Council has published its proposed changes to its car parking across the district.

The Draft Civil Enforcement Off Street Parking Places Order 2026, enables the council to add new parking places (Langold Country Park and Prospect), vary the fees and charges, and update the conditions of use to its existing parking places.

The changes include introducing a standardised tariff across all council owned car parks in the district, a 20% discount when paying digitally, and 1-hour free parking at Queens Street in Worksop and West Street in Retford.

The proposed order, intended to come into operation on 1 April 2026, is being put forward for several reasons including to ensure a fair and consistent policy across all car parks, to support local businesses and high street regeneration and modernise transaction methods.

Comments, objections and representations must be made in writing by the 18th January 2026, stating the grounds on which they are made and must be sent to Legal Services Department at Bassetlaw District Council or by email to monitoringofficer@bassetlaw.gov.uk

Full details of the proposals, and a statement of the council’s reasons for proposing to make the order can be found at www.bassetlaw.gov.uk/parking-places-order-2026
