Bassetlaw’s annual Spring Clean is back for 2026, inviting communities across our district to come together and help tidy up their local area.
Residents, community groups, schools, and local organisations are encouraged to take part by organising their own litter-picking events and helping to keep Bassetlaw clean, green, and welcoming.
Running from Monday 23rd March to Monday 5th April, this year’s Spring Clean will once again coincide with Keep Britain Tidy’s event - The Great British Spring Clean, which celebrates it’s 10-year anniversary this year.
To support volunteers, the Council can provide litter-picking equipment including bags, gloves, litter pickers, and high-visibility vests, but you must register your event before Sunday 1st March. Sign up using the online form at: www.bassetlaw.gov.uk/springclean.
Cllr Darrell Pulk, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “I’m delighted to see the Spring Clean returning to Bassetlaw this year. This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for residents, community groups, and volunteers to come together and take pride in our towns and villages.
“By working collectively, we can help create cleaner, greener neighbourhoods that everyone can enjoy. I would like to thank everyone who takes part each year for their continued enthusiasm and commitment to making Bassetlaw a better place to live.”
Once you have registered, equipment can be collected from our Carlton Forest Depot on a pre-arranged date and must be returned to the depot once the activity is complete. All equipment will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once a litter pick has taken place, the Council will also arrange a convenient time to collect the filled bags from a pre-agreed location, ensuring waste is disposed of safely and efficiently.
