Bassetlaw District Council’s annual ‘Health and Wellbeing: New Year Networking’ event returned in 2026, giving individuals, groups and organisations across the health and wellbeing sector an opportunity to connect and learn together.
Hosted by Muslim Charity, the event on 4 February at Eaton Hall focussed on collaboration, information sharing and highlighting the fantastic work taking place across the district.
Councillor Darrell Pulk, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods at Bassetlaw District Council said: “Following the success of our previous New Year Networking events, it was a pleasure to once again unite a range of professionals working to improve and sustain the wellbeing of our communities.
“We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Muslim Charity for kindly hosting this year’s event. We hope that everyone who dropped by found the session valuable and enjoyed taking the chance to strengthen existing relationships and form new ones.”
Cllr Pulk and Bakhtyar H. Pirzada, Chairman of Muslim Charity welcomed everyone to the event. The introduction was followed by presentations that provided valuable insights helping to support Bassetlaw’s residents. Barnsley Premier Leisure discussed health referrals and sports development, and the Retford and Villages Primary Care Network (PCN) explored available cancer support.
Attendees were also invited to take part in additional activities including a mood boost session, quiz and discussion panel with three men who shared their lived experience of being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Bakhtyar H. Pirzada, Chairman of Muslim Charity, said: “It was a privilege to welcome so many colleagues, partners and friends to Eaton Hall, and I thank everyone for taking the time to join us.
"We are grateful to Bassetlaw District Council for choosing this venue and for bringing the health and wellbeing community together in such a meaningful way. At Eaton Hall, we remain committed to working in partnership to support strong, connected and thriving communities across Bassetlaw.”
