A ‘Creative Vision’ comes to Bassetlaw Museum

Bassetlaw Museum is showcasing a selection of artworks crafted by members of the Worksop Society of Artists.

A new exhibition called ‘Creative Vision’ featuring works by the group, spanning a wide range of media and genres, has been unveiled.

It includes familiar local scenes and those further afield alongside other works created by members of the Worksop Society of Artists who have been supporting local people for over 80 years.

Alan Broughton, Chair of the Worksop Society of Artists said: “Our society provides an opportunity for artist of all abilities to meet regularly in a friendly social atmosphere. It also provides members with a personal feeling of wellbeing through encouragement and appreciation of the group’s talents.”

The group meets weekly at Worksop Cricket Club as well as offering artist demonstrations, hands-on workshops, group outings and welcomes artists of all abilities.

Kasia Wosiak, Collections Officer at Bassetlaw Museum said:It’s always a pleasure to host an exhibition by the Worksop Society of Artists, and we’re delighted to welcome back returning artists as well as new members. 

“The standard of work is consistently high, offering something for everyone, from traditional landscapes to abstract pieces, textiles, and experimental media. These artworks reveal the depth and variety of artistic talent in our community, and we’re pleased that Bassetlaw Museum plays a part in celebrating it.”

The Worksop Society of Artists exhibition runs until Saturday 2nd May at Bassetlaw Museum, Grove Street, Retford, The Museum is open four days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday between 10am and 4:30pm (Closed Mondays and Thursdays except during school holidays) Admission is free.
