A Retford-based artist is bringing his latest exhibition of captivating light and colour to Bassetlaw Museum.
Called ‘Golden Light’, it features landscapes and wildlife with artist, Mark Bloomer primarily painting outdoors capturing local scenes from everyday life.
His medium of choice is oil, and he enjoys experimenting with new techniques and methods of working.
Mark Bloomer said: “This is my first major exhibition, and I am delighted to showcase my work at Bassetlaw Museum. It comprises work I have completed over the last two years, with plein air painting of local scenes.
“My theme, ‘Golden Light’ examines the way in which light interacts with the landscape encompassing the many colours and nuances as I see it.”
Mark is both a member of the Retford Art Society and the Doncaster Art Club, with his highlight so far being a wildcard participant in the 2026 Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year in Keswick.
Mark Bloomer’s exhibition runs until Saturday 7th February at Bassetlaw Museum, Grove Street, Retford, The Museum is open four days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday between 10am and 4:30pm (Closed Mondays and Thursdays except during school holidays) Admission is free.
