A magical Christmas is on the way for Tuxford residents thanks to a £100 Councillor Community Grant.
Cllr Emma Griffin, Ward Member for Tuxford & Trent, donated the grant to support a festive grotto, giving children the chance to meet Father Christmas at this year’s Tuxford Christmas Market & Light Switch-On.
With over 800 visitors expected on Sunday 30th November, from 2:30pm until 6pm, the market will feature 30 stalls from local traders and artisans, live music, and performances by pupils from Tuxford Primary School, creating a true community celebration.
Cllr Georgina Frost, Vice Chairman of Tuxford Town Council, said: “We’re delighted to bring the Christmas Grotto to life this year as part of our much-loved market and light switch-on. It’s a wonderful way to make the event even more magical for children and families in Tuxford, and we’re grateful for the support that helps us make it possible.”
Cllr Griffin added: “I’m delighted to support the Christmas Grotto with this Councillor Community Grant. The lights switch-on is always such a special moment for Tuxford, and it’s wonderful to play a small part in helping bring that festive magic to life. These finishing touches really do make a difference for local families and especially for the children who look forward to this event every year.”
Each Bassetlaw District Councillor is allocated a small annual budget and has the discretion to award grants to support community activities within their ward. Councillor grants may support projects related to sport, culture and heritage, environmental sustainability, social welfare, and general community benefit.
