Letterbox Location Plan 1:500 in PDF format – If your letterbox locations are clearly marked on your Site Layout Plan please submit the same plan again.
Property Name Choices and reasons for each
You must provide three alternative property name choices as your first may not be available. We must also have the reasoning for these names as this is required on our final decision documents. If no reasoning is provided, we will automatically refuse these names.
Property Name – This is the name of a property where no house number also exists
Alias Property Name – This is the name of a property where a house number does exist. You must always still use a property number even if an alias name is added as this is how your property is registered with the emergency services.
You must consider the following when deciding on a property or alias property name.
The word ‘The’ can no longer be used as a prefix to a property or street name
Ease to pronounce and spell
Not a duplicate prefix name – IE : Bassetlaw House, Bassetlaw Bungalow, Bassetlaw Cottage would all be considered as one name request.
You will need to avoid names that are similar to addresses in your postcode district – this includes all surrounding villages.
Property suffix must be in-line with the style of property. Unless your property is a converted Barn this would not be acceptable as a suffix to your property name. Most properties built since 1970 are Houses and as such the only suffix would be ‘House’.
Names that are not and cannot be amended to be offensive
Personal/Family names or combinations of these are not accepted
Other restrictions may apply but will be reviewed and advised during our checking process.
If you have any queries before completing an SNN application please email us at street.naming@bassetlaw.gov.uk please ensure you provide the planning application and development location in your subject so that we can make relevant enquiries.
