One proof of current address for main and joint applicants
An official letter dated within the last 12 months unless specified (below are examples, other proofs may be accepted if they are official letters):
- Utility bill / Council tax bill
- Bank statement
- Credit Card / Financial statement (dated within last 3 months)
- NFA form if no fixed abode – will require proof of correspondence address
- Benefit award letter (e.g. pension, PIP)
- Addressed HMRC letter / P45 / P60
- Letter from GP surgery (dated within last 3 months)
- Tenancy agreement
Proof of National Insurance Number for main and joint applicants
- National Insurance Card
- Benefit award letter (e.g. PIP, DLA award)
- P45 / P60 / payslip
Children under 18 years old
- Birth certificate if under 3 months old (showing parent names)
- Child Benefit Award letter
If you are adding a child onto your existing housing application the following will not be accepted, we require to see the child’s full name on an official document:
- Child Benefit on bank statement (if shows account holder name & address and dated within last 3 months)
- Universal Credit statement showing child element
Adults moving with over 18 years old
- One form of ID (as listed above)
- Proof of current address
Local Connection
Proof of address for person claiming connection through if they have lived in Bassetlaw for the past 5 years (showing address from 5 years ago and address within last 12 months)
Proof of relationship to local connection:
If parent - Applicants full birth certificate showing parent name
If sibling - Full birth certificates for applicant and sibling showing same parent name
If there has been a name change, this will also be required to be evidence through deed poll certificate, marriage certificate or divorce paperwork.

If you provide a benefit award letter as proof of address and national insurance number then a separate form of ID must be provided.
