Discover the stories of North Nottinghamshire from its earliest people to the present day in the beautiful setting of Amcott House. Explore the grade II* listed Georgian house, its changing displays and temporary exhibits. Venture into the serene grounds and visit the Rural Heritage Centre. See the archaeology, history, art, agriculture and industry that have shaped this historic area. Step back in time in the Victorian schoolroom and experience the 1940s in the museum's wartime kitchen.

Collections highlights include the Carlton-in Lindrick knight figurine, an Anglo-Saxon log boat and the Retford civic plate collection.

Bassetlaw Museum was created in 1983. Over the last twenty years its collections have quickly grown due to generous donations by local people. The collections include local history, archaeology, decorative and fine art, agriculture, costume and textiles.

The museum is situated in Retford town centre in Amcott House, an 18th century town house which retains many of its original features. An art gallery was built in 1994, partly financed by the Percy Laws Memorial Fund of the Rotary Club of Retford.

Pilgrim's Gallery
