Adoption Statement

In accordance with Regulation 24(2) and Regulation 36 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004 and the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England)(Amendment) Regulations 2008, notice is hereby given that Bassetlaw District Council formally adopted its Core Strategy & Development Management Policies DPD (Core Strategy for short) and Local Development Framework Proposals Map on 22 December 2011.


The Core Strategy and Proposals Map form part of the Bassetlaw Local Development Framework (LDF) and sets the vision, spatial strategy and policies for development in the District for the period to 2028. Mr Christopher Anstey BA (Hons), Dip TP, DipLA, MRTPI, an independent Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, considered the Core Strategy at Examination Hearings held between 17 and 25 May 2011. The Inspector’s Report, with its recommendations, was published on 14 November 2011. The adopted Core Strategy contains the Inspector’s recommendations that are binding on the Council.


Any person aggrieved by the Core Strategy or Proposals Map may make an application to the High Court under Section 113 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004). Any challenge must be made on the grounds that:

  1. the document is not within the appropriate power; or
  2. a procedural requirement has not been complied with.

Any such application must be made promptly and in any event no later than 6 weeks after the date of the Council’s adoption (i.e. by 1 February 2011).

The adopted Core Strategy, Inspector’s Report, this Adoption Statement, the Sustainability Appraisal Report and the Sustainability Appraisal Adoption Statement (prepared in accordance with the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations 2004 (16) (3) and (4)) are available for public inspection free of charge, at the following locations:

  • Bassetlaw District Council Offices in Worksop and Retford (Monday to Friday 8:45am to 5:00pm);
  • Local Libraries in Worksop, Retford, Harworth, Carlton in Lindrick, Langold, Misterton and Tuxford (for opening hours, please see: www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk);
