Renewable Energy Solutions Ltd plans to develop a solar farm and associated battery storage with a generation capacity of 600MW sufficient to power 180,000 homes. Located in Bassetlaw, the proposal is adjacent to the West Burton Power Station site.

Renewable Energy Solutions Ltd held a non-statutory consultation from 23 October 2023 to 4 December 2023. It gave more information about the proposed development for community input.
Statutory Consultation
On 13 January 2025, the Council responded to Renewable Energy Solutions Ltd Draft Statement of Community Consultation providing feedback about ways to enhance engagement with local communities.
The statutory consultation was held between 20 January 2025 - 3 March 2025. It set out the proposal and included the Preliminary Environmental Information Report (PEIR).
Examination
- Adequacy of Consultation Representation, submitted on 11 June 2025, states that Renewable Energy Solutions Ltd complied with the consultation duties outlined in the Planning Act 2008.
- On 11 June 2025, the Secretary of State (c/o the Planning Inspectorate) accepted the Steeples Renewable project application for a Development Consent Order (DCO) under the Planning Act 2008.
- The examination is taking place between 11 November 2025 and 11 May 2026.
