One Earth Solar Farm Ltd plans to develop a solar farm and associated battery storage with a generation capacity of 740MW, sufficient to power 200,000 homes.
This project is cross border with the solar farm being within West Lindsey District Council, Bassetlaw District Council and Newark & Sherwood District Council and the connection to the national electricity grid being via a substation at the former Marnham Power Station site, in Bassetlaw.
Scoping report
The scoping report for the One Earth Solar Farm was accepted by the Planning Inspectorate on 22 December 2023.
Non-Statutory Consultation
One Earth Solar Farm Ltd held a non-statutory consultation from 27 September 2023 to 8 November 2023. It gave more information about the proposed development for community input.
Statutory Consultation
On 13 March 2023, the Council responded to One Earth Solar Farm Ltd’s Draft Statement of Community Consultation providing feedback about ways to enhance engagement with local communities.
The statutory consultation was held between 29 May 2024 - 23 July 2024. It set out the proposal and included the Preliminary Environmental Information Report (PEIR).
Examination
- Adequacy of Consultation Representation, submitted on 27 March 2025, states that One Earth Solar Farm Ltd complied with the consultation duties outlined in the Planning Act 2008.
- On 27 March 2025, the Secretary of State (c/o the Planning Inspectorate) accepted the One Earth Solar Farm project application for a Development Consent Order (DCO) under the Planning Act 2008
- On 28 March 2025, the Council submitted the potential main issues for Examination Report.
- On 15 May 2025, the Council submitted the following relevant representation, providing preliminary comments on the Environmental Statement.
- The Council submitted the Local Impact Report to the Planning Inspectorate for DCO Examination on 1 August 2025.
- The examination is taking place between 8 July 2025 and 8 January 2026.
- Recordings and transcripts from the Issue Specific Hearings that have taken place since the start of the hearings can be found on the National Infrastructure Project webpage.
- The Council and One Earth Solar Farm signed a Statement of Common Ground on 12 December 2024. It identified the areas of agreement and also any areas of disagreement. It also highlights the range of meetings the Council held with the applicant and other stakeholders throughout the application process.
