We have completed an important first step in producing the new Bassetlaw Local Plan - the Gateway 1 assessment.
There are three gateways in the new local plan process - Gateways 2 and 3 will follow later and will be led by independent Planning Inspectors. Gateway 1 is a self-assessment prepared by the council.
At the Gateway 1 stage, government guidance says that the council should publish a short summary about how we have got ready for plan-making and provides other key information about the Local Plan. Its publication is required by Local Plan making regulations and marks the formal start of the plan-making process for the new Bassetlaw Local Plan.
This Gateway 1 self-assessment summary was published on 30 October 2026. Government policy states the new plan should be adopted within 30 months of this date.
