Planning Service Complaints

If you wish to comment on a current/live planning application please do so via the Council’s Public Access website

Whilst you may not be satisfied with the outcome of a planning application, this does not mean that the Council has dealt with the application incorrectly. Separate processes exist to challenge planning decisions, either through the planning appeals process ran by the Planning Inspectorate, or by way of Judicial Review. As such, any complaint about the ‘outcome’ or decision, will not be progressed beyond an acknowledgement.

Valid complaints about Bassetlaw District Council’s Planning Department may include things where we have:

  • Failed to undertake our duties correctly or unprofessionally,
  • Failed to follow our own protocols without sound reason,

or you feel that:

  • you have received a poor-quality service in terms of one we offer,
  • you have been given the wrong information intentionally (where accidentally this may have occurred, an apology shall be issued),
  • a service has not been delivered on time or within a reasonable agreed time,
  • or if you have a complaint about a particular member of staff on the grounds of professionalism,

If you wish to make a complaint about the service you have received from Planning, please fill in the 'Make a complaint about the planning service' form.

If you are still not satisfied with the outcome of your complaint about the planning service you have received, only then should you refer this to our formal complaints procedure.
