New Play Equipment Installation at Rainbow Park

Exciting improvements are on the way for Rainbow Park in Manton, Worksop, with work due to begin in the next few weeks to install brand-new play equipment.

The park will soon feature a multi-functional playground, provided by Nottinghamshire-based company Jupiter Play & Leisure, following the damage to the original equipment by fire two years ago.

The centrepiece of the new playground is a steel tower, which includes a variety of slides and climbing equipment designed for all ages to enjoy. The project will also include sensory-rich play equipment designed for accessibility, installed at various heights and locations throughout the park.

This £50,000 project is funded through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), a charge used to fund local infrastructure projects needed to support development in the area, as part of planning consent for new developments.

Work on the new play area is set to begin on Monday 17 November and is expected to take two to three weeks to complete. The equipment was selected by Ward Councillors for Worksop South East after a period of informal engagement with local residents. This process was supported by the Parks and Open Spaces team, alongside Jupiter Play & Leisure.

Cllr Darrell Pulk, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “I’m delighted that work is about to begin on the new play area at Rainbow Park. This project represents a significant investment in the Manton community, providing children and families with a safe, modern, and inclusive space to enjoy. The use of Community Infrastructure Levy funding ensures that local development continues to deliver tangible benefits for residents, and I look forward to seeing the new playground become a much-loved part of the neighbourhood once again.”

Cllr Josie Potts, Cllr John Shephard and Cllr Clayton Tindle Ward Members for Worksop South East, jointly said: “It’s fantastic to see this long-awaited project about to take shape in Manton. The new play area at Rainbow Park will make a real difference to local families, offering children a fun, safe, and accessible place to play close to home. We know how much this space means to the community, and we’re thrilled that it’s being brought back to life with such impressive new equipment.”

Rainbow Park is just one of several parks in Worksop receiving upgrades to their play facilities as part of the Council’s Vision 2040 Healthy District ambition. This initiative aims to encourage residents to be more active in the town’s green spaces and create vibrant, inclusive recreational areas for everyone.
