The Fusion Energy Trail is returning to Bassetlaw over the next two weeks, giving visitors to Retford a free and fun way to learn about fusion energy, as well as the chance to win some fantastic prizes.
Everyone is invited to explore shops across the town centre to find 10 unique characters, each showcasing a different fusion energy superpower, that have been brought to life by Tuxford-based artist and graphic designer, Robert Bealby.
Those who collect all of the characters and return their trail sheets will be entered into a free prize draw where the winners could win a hamper full of amazing prizes like a Stunt Scooter, a build-your-own robot dog and a six-month fitness membership for BPL.
The trail proved to be a big hit when it launched in Worksop during October half-term last year, with some of the most popular characters being Tokamak the Powerful, Fuser the Atomic Fusion Force and Electrica Electric Power.
Running from Saturday 16 May to Sunday 31 May, the event is being delivered by Discover Retford in partnership with Bassetlaw District Council, STEP Fusion and the Retford Town Centre Partnership Board.
Cllr Charles Adams, Cabinet Member for Business and Skills, said: “It’s fantastic to welcome the Fusion Energy Trail back to Bassetlaw after its hugely successful launch in Worksop. Bringing the trail to Retford gives even more families the opportunity to learn about STEP and the future of fusion energy in a fun, engaging way.”
Katy Jarvis-Morgan, Senior Site Stakeholder Manager, said: “It’s great to see the Fusion Energy Trail return following such a positive response last October. At STEP Fusion, we’re committed to making our work open, inclusive and relevant to the communities around us. Initiatives like this bring people together, spark curiosity, and help show how innovation happening here in Bassetlaw can have a real impact for future generations.”
The Fusion Energy Trail will be launched at Retford’s Big Market Day on Saturday 16 May. You can collect your Fusion Energy Trail sheets from the Discover Retford team, who will have a stall on the market, or you can collect a trail sheet from the Hummingbird Collective, located just off the Market Square, for the duration of the event. Full details of the trail, and prize draw, are provided on the trail sheets.
The event forms part of the Council’s Discover Retford programme, which aims to increase footfall and support local businesses. More information can be found at www.discoverretford.co.uk or by following Discover Retford on Facebook and Instagram.
