Free ‘Learn to Ride’ sessions are back in Bassetlaw

Bassetlaw’s budding young cyclists can gear up for a fun and active spring as free ‘Learn to Ride’ sessions roll into Harworth, Worksop and Langold next month.

The events, supported by Clancy Briggs Cycling Academy, will take place across the Easter and May half-term school holidays, as part of Move More in May, with two sessions running each day at:

Harworth, Tom Simpson Recreation Ground - Wednesday 1st April

Worksop, The Canch - Wednesday 8th April

Langold, Harrison Drive - Wednesday 27th May

Two sessions will run each day from 9am until 10.30am, and 10.30am until 12noon.

The sessions are designed for under 16s who are unable to ride independently as well as those who can ride but would like to develop their skills and confidence further. The aim is to provide a safe, supportive and fun environment where young people can build essential cycling skills at their own pace.

Ali Slater, Coach at Clancy Briggs Cycling Academy, said; “Learning to ride is a vital life skill. It boosts confidence, improves coordination, supports physical and mental wellbeing, and encourages children to be more active. By working in partnership with Bassetlaw District Council, we’re delighted to help more young people across the district gain confidence on two wheels and develop a lifelong love of cycling.”

Cllr Darrell Pulk, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods added; “We’re really pleased to be working alongside Clancy Briggs Cycling Academy to bring these fantastic cycling sessions to Harworth, Langold and Worksop.

“Helping children and young people to stay active is incredibly important, and cycling is a skill that builds confidence, independence and a lifelong love of being outdoors. These events are a great opportunity for families to get involved, have fun and learn something valuable at the same time.”

Clancy Briggs Cycling Academy, based in Doncaster, was founded by former three-time Olympic Champion Ed Clancy OBE and Multiple sprint racing winner Graham Briggs.

The Academy operates at all levels from children learning to ride for the first time to helping young people wanting to get into racing.
