Rainbow Park’s New Play Area Officially Opens

Children in Worksop can now enjoy brand-new play facilities at Rainbow Park in Manton, following the completion of a £50,000 upgrade.

The three-week project has transformed the park with exciting new features, including a striking steel tower with multiple slides and climbing equipment suitable for all ages. The playground also includes sensory-rich play equipment designed for accessibility, ensuring children of all abilities can join in the fun.

The improvements at the Bassetlaw District Council owned play area were delivered by Nottinghamshire-based company Jupiter Play & Leisure and funded through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), a charge that supports local infrastructure as part of planning consent for new developments.

This investment follows the loss of the park’s original play equipment, which was severely damaged by a fire two years ago. The new installation restores Rainbow Park as a vibrant, welcoming space for local families

Cllr Darrell Pulk, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “We’re delighted to see Rainbow Park revitalised with modern, inclusive play equipment. This investment reflects our commitment to creating safe, welcoming spaces for families to enjoy.

“Parks like this are at the heart of our communities, and we hope these improvements will encourage more children and parents to spend time outdoors, stay active, and make lasting memories together.”

Cllr Josie Potts, Cllr John Shephard and Cllr Clayton Tindle, Ward Members for Worksop South-East jointly added: “Local residents told us they wanted a play area that caters for everyone, and we’re proud to have delivered just that.

“The new equipment offers something for all ages and abilities, making Rainbow Park a place where the whole community can come together. We’d like to thank everyone who shared their ideas and helped shape this project, we hope families make the most of this fantastic new facility for years to come.”

Several parks across Worksop are receiving similar upgrades as part of the Council’s Vision 2040 Healthy District ambition, which aims to encourage active lifestyles and create vibrant, inclusive green spaces for all.
