Survey reveals tenants' satisfaction with Housing Services

Survey reveals tenants' satisfaction with Housing Services

Bassetlaw District Council’s Housing Services are performing well when it comes to how safe and secure its tenants feel in their homes, with 83.6% satisfied, according to an independent study.

Research into Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSM) for 2024/25 was carried out by IFF Research on behalf of the Council as part of a legal requirement to show how landlords are performing and where improvements can be made.

Over 611 surveys with tenants took place to gather perceptions and feedback on several key areas including overall satisfaction, the quality of homes and whether tenants' views are listened to and acted upon.

Cllr Lynne Schuller, Cabinet Member for Housing and Estates said: “These latest Tenant Satisfaction Measures provide an opportunity to reflect on what is working well, and actively look at ways to further build on, and develop services for our tenants including regular input through our Tenant Engagement Team.

“We continue to invest in our council homes and estates to make improvements alongside our partner agencies, which directly benefit tenants and residents enhancing their quality of life. We continue to listen, learn and improve.”

The Council’s Housing Services remains in the top 25% when compared to 33 other providers conducting the TSM Survey with IFF Research despite seeing a slight decrease from the same survey in 2023/24, which may be in part due to a change in how data is gathered including using online surveys for the first time.

The survey revealed that among the strongest performing areas is satisfaction with the overall repairs service at 81%. Tenants' overall satisfaction is at 76.8%, while satisfaction with dealing with complaints has risen to 46%.

Although the survey results demonstrate Housing Services are performing well, there is room for improvement with action already being taken to improve service provision. It includes the introduction of a new repairs management system enabling tenants to review, book and manage their repair appointments, a learning improvement group has been set up to identify trends from tenant feedback, while more opportunities for tenants to get involved have been created by the Tenant Engagement Team.

The Tenant Satisfaction Measures were presented to Councillors at Cabinet on 2nd June. The results will also be shared with all tenants in our Annual Report to Tenants and will be shared on our website www.bassetlaw.gov.uk/housing
