Following the successful completion of a major project to preserve its extensive collection, Bassetlaw Museum is expanding its opening hours, allowing visitors to enjoy the museum five days a week from Tuesday 1st September.
In April 2025, the Museum took urgent action to protect its collection after one of its storage facilities were deemed no longer suitable for the safe preservation of its artefacts.
Now that the work has been completed, the museum will now be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00am to 4:45pm.
Dr Mike Galer, Curator at Bassetlaw Museum said: “We want to thank everyone for their patience whilst we carried out the work necessary to protect the museum’s artefacts which are currently in storage.
“We look forward to welcoming back visitors through our doors more often to be able to explore our collections and enjoy everything the museum has to offer.”
The museum will remain closed on Bank Holidays and on Wednesdays for internal stores work, collection work and outreach in the community.
During the school holidays, Bassetlaw Museum will be open Monday to Saturday, offering more opportunities for families and local visitors to enjoy the museum’s collection.
