Qualifications
- Relevant degree Priority 1
- Have achieved or is eligible for chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute or other relevant professional body) Priority 1
- Related higher degree Priority 3
Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge and experience of planning legislation, case law and policy, planning techniques and the development management process (including the economics around S106 and the community infrastructure levy) Priority 1
- Knowledge of planning relating to the build environment, environmental and sustainability matters Priority 1
- An understanding of supply chain growth Priority 3
Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience in planning application determination at a majors level Priority 1
- Participation as an expert witness for the council at a variety of appeals Priority 2
- Experience of presenting reports (or similar) to Planning Committee (or equivalent), senior management and Member Committees Priority 2
Skills
- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise, plan, co-ordinate and review own work, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in a pressurised environment Priority 1
- Good presentation and communication skills, verbally, in writing and to public forums. Able to communicate in a clear, structured, and readily understood manner Priority 1
- Ability to use specialist geographical information systems/planning software and suite of Microsoft office applications Priority 1
- Adaptive, progressive, innovative, and flexible in approach to work and working practices and willing to undertake a range of tasks for the effective running of the department. Embraces a culture of continuous improvement Priority 1
- To be able to drive, possess a current driving licence and provide a suitable vehicle for use at work Priority 1
