Qualifications
- City & Guilds / NVQ Level 4 Horticulture or similar (Priority 1)
- IOSH Managing Safely (Priority 1)
- Full Driving Licence (Priority 1)
- ILM Level 3 management (Priority 2)
Knowledge
- Detailed knowledge/practical experience of horticulture (Priority 1)
- Detailed underpinning Health and Safety knowledge combined with evidence of the ability to apply effective safety procedures in the workplace and in project development and supervision. (Priority 1)
- Detailed knowledge of underpinning theories and principles governing compliance with associated legislation, regulations, procedures and documentation relative to Parks and Open Spaces. (Priority 2))
Experience
- Substantial relevant and up to date experience in the management and operation of a horticultural and parks service, including managing budgets and financial planning. (Priority 1)
- Substantial experience of managing and motivating a grounds maintenance, technical and administrative staff to achieve Service objectives. (Priority 1)
- Involvement in Green Flag and developing management plans for parks and open spaces. (Priority 2)
- Project Planning experience including horticultural project design, budgetary control, costings and specifications for hard and soft landscaping. (Priority 2)
- Experience in event management. (Priority 3)
Skills
- Ability to interpret plans and working drawings, mark out/lay on site from plans/working drawings. (Priority 1)
- Ability to manage a complex range of projects and activities to meet service objectives. (Priority 1)
- Skilled in the use of a range of ICT programmes including Microsoft applications, asset management and mapping systems. (Priority 1)
- Ability to produce work programmes and job costings. (Priority 1)
- Able to communicate with a wide range of audiences and dealing with local ward councillors & wider residents of the district. (Priority 2)
