Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIP) Planner - Person Specification

Job title: NSIP Planner

Grade: Grade 8

Key requirements:

  • Priority 1 – Could not do the job without this
  • Priority 2 – Could not do the job without this, but provided have Priority 1 criteria, this could be developed in the job over an acceptable period
  • Priority 3 – Would enhance performance in the job, but is not essential

Qualifications  

  1. Relevant degree Priority 1
  2. Have achieved or is eligible for chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute or other relevant professional body) Priority 1

Knowledge

  1. 5+ years knowledge of delivering major projects through the Town & Country Planning Act legislation Priority 1
  2. Knowledge of major infrastructure and/or energy developments Priority 2
  3. A good understanding of supply chain growth Priority 2

Experience

  1. Prior experience of engaging in the DCO process and facilitating the delivery of NSIPs through the Planning Act, 2008 legislation or similar including large EIA projects Priority 1
  2. Participation as an expert witness in public inquiries Priority 2
  3. To have worked in private practice in the energy sector Priority 3

Skills

  1. To have excellent project management, report writing and communication skills Priority 1
  2. Up to date with professional competence Priority 2
