Construction site noise

Noise can be inevitable when carrying out operations such as building works (including DIY), road-works, demolition or dredging.

Bassetlaw District Council may investigate complaints about noise from such activities if the noise occurs at unreasonable times, from poorly maintained equipment or where methods are not being used to control or minimise the noise.

The Council can serve a notice under the Control of Pollution Act 1974, imposing requirements as to how the construction works should be carried out to minimise any problems. In some instances, we can set noise limits by taking into account the character of the local area.
