Individual electoral registration - About the register

The Electoral Register is a list of everybody within Bassetlaw who is entitled to vote.

It has been compiled from voter registration forms that were delivered to all residential addresses during the annual canvass.

On 1st December 2018 a new Register was published.  This will be used for all elections called between 1st December 2018 and 1st December 2019.

The Register is published in two versions, the full register and the open register. It remains a legal requirement that everyone over the age of 18 appears on the full version.  You are, however, allowed to opt out of the open register.

The Register of Electors is available to view at the Council offices (making an appointment is advisable).

Full Register

The full register may only be used for election purposes, by credit reference agencies and the police and each organisation must adhere to strict data protection legislation.  This Register can also be inspected on a personal basis by anyone requesting to do so at the Council Offices.

Open Register

The open register is available to anyone and copies can be purchased from the Council.  When registering, everyone is given the opportunity to opt out of the open version.  In this way your details will be kept private and not be made available for general sales.  To do this you simply tick the relevant box on the registration form.
