Youth Mayor
I am passionate about serving as Bassetlaw’s Deputy Youth Mayor because I believe in empowering young people and creating opportunities for them to thrive. I would like to expand opportunities for young people by implementing hands-on projects such as career workshops and mental health campaigns. I believe in strengthening community engagement by inspiring involvement in the Bassetlaw Youth Council as a platform for young people’s voices to be heard but also acted upon.
I have extensive experience in youth leadership through my role as Chairperson of the Young People’s Board for Nottinghamshire, where I have championed youth voices at a county level and consulted on several initiatives. During this time, I was invited to host the 4uth Awards, a county-wide awards evening that celebrates youth excellence, with around 100 people in attendance. In addition to this, I have been a member of the Bassetlaw Youth Council for three years and recently secured work experience with Bassetlaw’s MP, which has given me a deep understanding of the needs of young people.
I am committed to making a difference and representing young people in our community.
Deputy Youth Mayor

My name is Florence, I’m 12 years old, and I’m proud to be the Deputy Youth Mayor for Bassetlaw Youth Council. I attend The Elizabethan Academy in Retford and care about students’ experiences. I’m especially passionate about making public transport more affordable, as high costs can limit opportunities for young people, particularly in rural areas. In this role, I hope to listen to others and make a positive difference in our community.
