Bassetlaw District Council has been awarded central government funding to help households achieve energy bill savings and carbon savings.
The funding is available through the Warm Homes: Local Grant (WH: LG) and aims to help low- income households for owner – occupied and privately rented properties.
The funding is available to eligible properties regardless of how you heat your home.
Eligibility
You must meet and be able to evidence both of the following criteria:
1 – Your property’s Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) must be D, E, F or G rated. You can check your property’s EPC here. If your property does not have an EPC, one will be conducted as part of the scheme, providing the household meets the other eligibility criteria.
2 – And any one of the following criteria:
- Your household’s annual gross income is less than £36, 000 (including any benefits). Please note, you may be asked for proof of income to ensure eligibility criteria is met; or
- Your property is located in an ‘auto- eligible’ postcode list; or
- Someone in your household receives means-tested benefits or the household meets the current ECO4 Flex eligibility criteria.
Measures
The costs of works are FREE to owner – occupiers and for ONE property per landlord if the current tenant meets the eligibility criteria. Any subsequent properties will require the landlord to make a 50% cost contribution. It is important to note the grant funding cannot be used to make a property compliant with the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES); therefore, properties with an EPC rating of F or G must supply proof of exemption.
Measures include low- carbon heating and energy- efficiency improvements. This includes, but not limited to solar PV, air source heat pumps, loft insulation, cavity wall insulation and external wall insulation.
Please note that insulation measures will be prioritised before the installation of renewables.
