Community Energy Bassetlaw

Bassetlaw District Council are looking to facilitate the creation of a community energy group in Bassetlaw. 

What is community energy?

Community energy is a collection of community-owned and controlled projects that install renewable energy.

An example of a community energy project would be installing solar panels on community buildings or schools.

The Process

1. Identify a group of individuals interested in community energy.

2. Develop ideas for a project. 

3. Carry out feasibility studies. 

4. Ask the community to invest.

5. Installation of project:

5a. Investors receive interest on investment 

5b. Additional profit

6. Invested in new community project. (Leads back to 1).

The benefits

The benefits of community energy include:

  • Direct financial gain for the community, the project can reduce bills.
  • Provides return on investment. 
  • Re-investment of profit can contribute to new community projects.

We are looking for people who would be interested in contributing to community energy in Bassetlaw. This could be investment into the projects, putting forward projects in your local community, or sitting on the board of Energy Community Bassetlaw.
