Please Note
We are not currently able to accept Fridges or Freezers as part of our Bulky Waste Collections. We are sorry for this inconvenience, which is being caused by a national and regional shortage of facilities that can safely dispose of fridges and freezers, in addition to reduced storage space at registered waste transfer stations across Nottinghamshire.
We are currently collecting fridges and freezers from customers who have already booked and paid for Bulky Wastes Collections. However, we are not able to accept any new requests for the removal of fridges and freezers until further notice.
Please do not ask any unlicenced waste collectors to remove your Fridge or Freezer, as this may increase the risk of it being fly-tipped somewhere in our district. If you are able to, please store this at your property until it can be collected by the Council or a licensed and Registered Waste Carrier.
Residents can use our bulky waste service to take away large unwanted items like old sofas, wardrobes, mattresses and fridges and freezers.
By using the Council’s service you can book your appointment online, have the items collected from your door and also have the peace of mind that the items will be recycled where possible.
Below you will find a list of what we are able to collect and our pricing structure.
As part of this service, we are also able to collect a contaminated Blue Bin, an additional household waste bin, or up to six refuse sacks of household waste.
The following guidance MUST be followed:
- In the “date available box” on the collection details page, please ensure you put the date of availability and immediately place the bulky items at the front of your property on either your garden or driveway. Items must be placed to the front of the property for collection and cannot be collected from the rear.
Due to the way that our waste partner Veolia is now required to dispose of items containing persistent organic pollutants (POPs); for example, soft furnishings including sofas, arm chairs and upholstered dining chairs, we have introduced a new collection programme in Bassetlaw.
While this new programme is being introduced, we are unable to provide specific timelines for the collection of some items of Bulky Waste. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Please place your items at the front of your property and we will collect your Bulky Waste as quickly as possible.
In addition to the weekly collection of wheeled bins, we also provide a chargeable service, from domestic properties only, to enable you to dispose of those items that are too large to go in your wheeled bin.
The charges are:
- £19 for the first item them £13 for each subsequent item thereafter (up to a maximum of 9 items)

Using the Household Recycling Centres
Bassetlaw residents who wish to use the household recycling centres will need to register with Nottinghamshire County Council to continue to use the sites. Your use of the recycling centres depends on where you live, the waste you have, who you are and the vehicle you wish to use.
To make sure only those allowed to use the recycling centres do so you must register your vehicle(s) with Nottinghamshire County Council first.
If you move house or change your vehicle, or have registered one vehicle and wish to add another (you can register up to two), you will need to complete the registration form again to update your details.
