The new ECO, Energy Company Obligation is responsible for taking up where both CERT and Warmfront left off. The role of ECO will be to provide measures for low income households and those houses that do not fit into the Green Deal.
ECO will provide energy efficiency measures for hard to treat and hard to reach properties, which are estimated to be over ten million in England. This is relevant to Bassetlaw as the district has both hard to treat with solid wall properties and hard to reach properties due to its many rural and widespread dwellings.
Bassetlaw District Council is aware there are a number of rogue traders getting involved in the Green Deal and ECO initiatives. We do not have any partners, suppliers or contractors selling solar panels or any other goods and services door to door in the District and residents are urged to report any incidences of bogus callers to Nottinghamshire Police on 101.
We are happy to endorse Apex Carbon Solutions, which is the company that provided the Council’s Warmstreets campaign for loft and cavity wall insulation last year. Apex Carbon Solutions are providing energy efficiency measures through the Green Deal and ECO.
You can also check any company’s Green Deal registration number by telephoning the Energy Saving Trust on 0300 123 1234.
Also, if you want to find a registered installer operating in Bassetlaw you can call the above number and they will give you a number of organisations that are registered with the Green Deal Oversight and Registration Body (GD ORB).
