Recycling centres - Recycling Centres

If you have additional bulky household items that are too large for your wheeled bin, facilities are provided for you to dispose of them at no charge, when taken by yourself, to a Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC).

The Household Waste Recycling Centre's are managed by Nottinghamshire County Council.

Within Bassetlaw there are two Household Waste Recycling Centres located at:

  • Shireoaks Road, Worksop, S80 3HA
  • Hallcroft, Retford, DN22 7SS

Opening times

The Amenity/Recycling Centres are open seven days a week at the following times:

  • January and February: 8am to 4pm
  • March: 8am to 6pm
  • April to September: 8am to 8pm
  • October: 8am to 6pm
  • November and December: 8am to 4pm

Please note they are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

If you wish to know which items can be taken to the sites or require any other advice please contact the Customer Service Centre Helpline, which is the same for both centres, on 0300 500 8080 or visit the 'How to recycle or dispose of common waste items'.

Residents who wish to use the recycling centres will need to register with Nottinghamshire County Council to continue using the sites. 

To make sure only those allowed to use recycling centres do so you must register your vehicle(s) with Notts County Council first.

If you move house or change your vehicle, or have registered one vehicle and wish to add another (you can register up to two), you will need to complete the registration form again to update your details.

Should you be unable to transport the items to the Recycling Centre, Bassetlaw District Council provide a chargeable bulky waste collection service from domestic properties.
