Retail and leisure study

2017 Bassetlaw District Retail and Leisure Study

The 2017 Bassetlaw District Retail and Leisure Study was published on 2 May 2017. It replaces the 2012 Retail Need Assessment as the most up-to-date evidence of future shopping needs across Bassetlaw. The Study also includes a new section, considering the provision of leisure facilities in the District, such as restaurants, gyms and cinemas.

The Study focuses on Worksop, Retford, Harworth & Bircotes and Tuxford, but also includes qualitative evaluations of other centres in Bassetlaw. Its recommendations are derived from a large scale household survey and survey work undertaken in mid-2016. The Study uses the household survey to consider what additional spending might be available in the future, to support new retail development. A slightly different methodology is used to assess the capacity for new leisure facilities in the District.
