Retford market place - police incident


Retford Town Hall and our Offices at 17b The Square are now open again following a Police incident this morning. Here is the latest update from Nottinghamshire Police:

A suspicious device found in Retford this morning (Monday 3 September 2018) has been made safe by Army bomb disposal experts.

Police were called at around 8.43am to a report of a suspicious package found inside a property in Market Place.

An area was cordoned off, streets were closed and premises evacuated while the incident was dealt with.

Army bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion of the device which was safely detonated on site at around midday. Cordons have now been lifted.

An investigation is now under way. Anyone with any information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 150 of 3 September 2018.
