Garden Waste collections in Bassetlaw are coming to an end for the 2018 season - but you still have an extra collection left and you can now sign up for next year’s season as well.
Due to the snow and icy weather at the beginning of the 2018 season, collections have been extended to the week commencing 3rd December if you live in East Bassetlaw (Retford area) and the week commencing 10th December if you live in West Bassetlaw (Worksop area).
From this week, you can also sign up for the 2019 season of collections, which remain at just £30 per season (per bin) and will run from the beginning of March to the end of November.
This fee includes the use of a 240 litre wheelie bin per subscription, in which you’ll be able to place grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, leaves, small branches and twigs, dead plants, weeds and cut flowers.
Almost 8,000 people signed up for collections during the 2018 season and despite the delayed start to the season and one of the hottest summers on record, more than 2,500 tonnes of garden waste has already been recycled.
Cllr Julie Leigh, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods at Bassetlaw District Council said: “Our Garden Waste Collection Service continues to grow year on year and it’s great that so many people in our district have decided to recycle their garden waste.
“We hope that even more people will sign up for our 2019 season and dispose of their garden waste in a more environmentally friendly way.”
