Some of Worksop town centre’s most historic buildings were given a splash of colour last month as part of a heritage-themed colouring competition.
Drawings of recognisable buildings such as the old Ship Inn and the former Eclipse building were given a vibrant make-over by local children as one of the events at Worksop Fun Palace to raise awareness of Bassetlaw District Council’s heritage project to rejuvenate some of Bridge Street’s historic buildings.
Townscape Heritage Officer, Jane Harrison, said: “It was a fantastic day and the colouring competition allowed us to talk to the children about some of the historic buildings and their past, which hopefully sparked a small interest in the town’s heritage.”
The winning entries were picked from three age groups, and the winners were; Ava Lindon (ages 3 to 5 years), Lilith Lewis (ages 6 to 8 years) and Jamie Watson (ages 9 to 11 years). Each winner received a tool box appropriate to their age.
