Bassetlaw’s Markets will be hosting a series of very special ‘Stocking Filler Markets’ in Retford and Worksop this year that will help you to get prepared for Christmas and provide entertainment for all the family.
As a new addition to the popular markets provided by Bassetlaw District Council, these family-friendly events will take place on Retford and Worksop Market Squares on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the lead up to Christmas, with stalls selling presents that are perfect for stocking fillers or Secret Santa gifts.
You’ll have the chance to meet Santa, pick out a real Christmas Tree courtesy of Retford and Gainsborough Garden Centre, all while being serenaded by local school children singing Christmas Carols.
There’ll also be entertainment for all of the family with street entertainers, small fairground rides, a showing of ‘The Snowman’ on big TV screens, and extra-special performances of Sleeping Beauty by Talegate Theatre on Tuesday 4th December in Retford and Thursday 13th December in Worksop.
Cllr Jo White, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods at Bassetlaw District Council, said; “We’re hoping that these additional markets will appeal to families and people who can’t normally get to our weekday and weekend markets.
“It’ll give everyone the chance to get into the Christmas spirit and as well as bring addition people into the town centres, and provide the opportunity to pick up an extra present or two.”
Retford’s Stocking Filler Market will take place on the Market Square on Tuesday 4th, 11th and 18th December. While Worksop’s Stocking Filler Market will take place on the Old Market Square, outside the Town Hall on Thursday 29th November, 6th December and 13th December. Both markets will start at 4.30pm and festivities will last for approx. three hours.
