Council Supports Retford Platinum Celebrations with Jubilee Grant

Bassetlaw District Council is supporting the Retford Platinum Jubilee Celebrations with a Grant of £4000 as residents get ready to enjoy the jubilee bank holiday weekend.

The Market Square Street Party, organised by the Retford Business Forum in partnership with Bassetlaw District Council, North Notts Bid and Retford Charter Trustees takes place on Sunday 5th June from 12 noon.

As well as live entertainment from singer Jessica Mary Brett and the Worksop Salvation Army Band, there will be a DJ and events for all  the family.

Rick Brand, Chair of the Retford Business Forum said:

“Retford Business Forum is delighted to be working in partnership with Bassetlaw District Council, North Notts BID and the Retford Charter Trustees to provide the Retford Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. We have a kilometre of bunting already cheering up the town and our street party on the square will give people the opportunity to get together and enjoy each other’s company, whether they bring their own food or take advantage of the stalls and cafes in and around the square. Without the help of our partner organisations, especially Bassetlaw District Council, we would not be able to put on this event, and we are very grateful for their support”

Councillor Simon Greaves, Leader of Bassetlaw District Council said:

"We are delighted to be able to support these events and are grateful to everybody involved in helping celebrate Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee. The Queen has dedicated her life to public service and across Bassetlaw and the Nation we come together to celebrate her truly remarkable reign."

In the run up to the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, Bassetlaw Museum will also be running the following events:

Monday 30th May - Platinum Poems and Picnics
Tuesday 31st May -  The Sir James Dangerous Garden Party!
Wednesday 1st June - Jubilee Jo Jingles!
