Levelling Up Worksop - Update

Bassetlaw District Council has completed the purchase of the Priory Shopping Centre in Worksop as part of its successful Levelling Up bid to transform the town centre. (30th March 2023) Structural surveys are now underway to enable plans for the redevelopment of the Priory Centre to be drawn up, which could incorporate a new leisure facility and feature attractions such as ten pin bowling and soft play. The scheme will also look to retain existing occupiers and bring in new tenants for empty units.

David Armiger, Chief Executive of Bassetlaw District Council said:

“Acquiring the Priory Centre was the first key milestone in our Levelling Up bid and we can now focus on drawing up redevelopment plans to help transform Worksop Town Centre. This week, Council Officers have been visiting businesses located in the Priory Centre to introduce ourselves, discuss the new management arrangements and deal with any immediate issues or concerns. We look forward to working with the businesses in the Priory Centre, creating more opportunities for future and prospective businesses and develop additional leisure facilities that will encourage more people into the town centre and boost the town’s appeal to a greater audience.”
