All Rapid Community Testing for Worksop will move to a single location at Manton Club as part of a plan to enable even more Bassetlaw residents and businesses to access asymptomatic testing.
A new test site is due to open in Retford on Tuesday 9 March, which will make Rapid Community Testing more widely accessible for thousands more Bassetlaw residents and workers.
Following the initial pilot, services previously offered at Crown Place Community Centre on Sandy Lane, Worksop will now be provided at Manton Club on Retford Road.
It is hoped that Crown Place Community Centre will become a collection point for home testing in the future, with further details on this to be announced in due course.
The Sandy Lane site will close at 1pm on Sunday 7 March and Worksop residents and workers who wish to take up or continue using asymptomatic testing are being encouraged to use the test centre at Manton, Retford Road from Tuesday 9 March.
Cllr Simon Greaves, Leader of Bassetlaw District Council, said: “I’d like to thank all of the residents and workers who have been using Crown Place Community Centre to get tested for Covid-19 and now encourage them to use the facilities at Manton Club.
“The facilities and testing process at Manton are exactly the same and the expert staff there will guide you through the process if it is new to you.
“Around one in three people who are infected with Covid-19 have no symptoms so could be spreading the disease without knowing it. These community testing sites provide rapid tests and are another tool in the fight to stop the spread and reduce infection rates.
“In order to offer this vital service to even more residents or people who work in Bassetlaw, it was essential that we have a test site in another part of the district so that we can continue to drive down our rates of transmission.
“Working in partnership with the Department for Health and Social Care and Nottinghamshire County Council, we are pleased to announce that a new test centre in Retford will be available very soon. We must also continue to play our part and follow the national restrictions and the Hands, Face, Space guidance.”
The Community Test Centre at Manton Club, Retford Road, Worksop, S80 2PU is open - Tuesday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm and Saturday, from 9am to 1pm. A free customer car park is available at this site.
The new test facility at Retford Town Hall, DN22 6DB will open on Tuesday 9 March 2021 and will operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8am to 6pm, Wednesdays 7am to 5pm, and Saturdays 8.30am to 3pm.
As children return to school, families and care bubbles can make use of the community testing centres locally with expert help and advice on how to administer the lateral flow test safely and effectively. Anybody under the age of sixteen attending a testing centre will need to be accompanied by an adult and children under the age of 12 will need an adult to help with carrying out the swab test.
