A second round of applications for the Local Authority Discretionary Grants Fund will open tomorrow (Wednesday 15th July), with £872,500 of funding still available to support small Businesses in Bassetlaw that have not yet been eligible to receive any form of Government Support Grants.
Government guidance allows Councils to collaborate about the design of their scheme to ensure consistency across a region. Nottinghamshire District and Borough Councils agreed a scheme that is fair and consistent and reflects the criteria stipulated within the government guidance. Following the completion of the first round of funding, Nottinghamshire District and Borough Councils have revised the grant eligibility to open the fund up to wider businesses. The rateable value for those with business premises has been increased to 100,000 and the thresholds that relate to property overheads and loss of income have also changed. Businesses are advised to check www.bassetlaw.gov.uk/discgrant for the full updated eligibility criteria.
Grants between £2000 and £10,000 or £25,000 will be available, but eligible businesses are encouraged to apply quickly as the deadline for the applications to the discretionary grant scheme is on a first come first served basis and closes on 27th July 2020.
Each application will be individually assessed after the closing date and any successful businesses will receive a grant payment shortly after the assessments have been completed and awards determined.
Applicants of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme or the Self Employment Income Support Scheme remain eligible to apply for this scheme. However, due to the limited funding available under this scheme, the Council may prioritise businesses or individuals who have been ineligible for any other funding support.
Businesses that have already received cash grants or are able to do so from any existing central government Coronavirus-related scheme are ineligible for funding from the Discretionary Grants Fund.
This includes but is not limited to the following schemes:
• Small Business Grant Fund
• Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant
• The Fisheries Response Fund
• Domestic Seafood Supply Scheme (DSSS).
• The Zoos Support Fund
• The Dairy Hardship Fund
