Bassetlaw Business earns trio of awards

Harworth soft play centre Kidz Hub has become the first business in Bassetlaw to earn a trio of nationally recognised accreditations that deal with food safety, healthy eating and welcoming breastfeeding.

Kidz Hub, located at Harworth Business Park, has achieved a 5-Star food hygiene rating, has signed up to the Healthier Options Takeaways (HOT) Merit and has also signed up to being a Breastfeeding Friendly business – all accreditations that are administered by Bassetlaw District Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.

The business first earned a 5* food hygiene rating (the highest possible score) after a successful inspection by Environmental Health Officers from Bassetlaw Council, who look at the way that food is handled, prepared, and stored, in addition to other food safety standards.

They are also committed to offering healthier food options to their customers and encouraging the local community to lead healthier lives through the HOT Merit Award.

Finally, in a bid to provide a safe and welcoming place for mothers to feed their children, Kidz Hub have also signed up to being Breastfeeding Friendly organisation.

Cllr Sue Shaw, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing said: “It’s great news that Kidz Hub is the first business in Bassetlaw to achieve all three awards. I hope this encourages more businesses in the district to work to achieve the top award in the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, and subsequently apply for the HOT and Breastfeeding Friendly Awards.”

“Having been recognised for all three awards and making positive changes to a business, provides not only benefits for the business, but for the customers too.”

Tracy Mitchell, Director of Kidz Hub said: “We are a new, innovative local business that prides itself on delivering the highest quality of service and products. We are so proud to be recognised for achieving these three fantastic awards and will endeavour to continue upholding and reflecting a positive influence in the community.”

Other local businesses are also beginning to achieve the collection of awards, including Mollie Rocker Bakery in Retford.
