Digital showcase event heads to Bassetlaw to boost local business

erdfBusinesses are being invited to a special showcase event being held in Bassetlaw as part of a partnership project which is designed to help grow the local economy.

Delivered in partnership with Bassetlaw District Council and East Midlands Chamber, the free event will focus on some of the latest developments in digital technology – helping companies better connect with their customers and drive up sales and productivity.

With around 80 free places up-for-grabs at the all-day Bassetlaw Digital Growth Showcase on 19 March, businesses from Bassetlaw and the wider Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire area are being urged not to miss their chance for a seat on the day.

It is being run as part of the three-year D2N2 Digital Growth Programme (DGP) that provides dedicated support and grants to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) located in the D2N2 area – running until June 2019.

Diane Beresford, Deputy Chief Executive of East Midlands Chamber, urged local SMEs to take advantage of the expertise and knowledge which will be shared on the day.

She said: “We all know that digital technology and marketing moves so quickly that it can be daunting to keep up, especially for smaller firms which may not be able to employ specialists in these areas.

“But it is key that businesses stay ahead of the game to ensure they are well-placed to grow and innovate – and ultimately contribute to a thriving local economy.”

The event, which is being held at Ye Old Bell Hotel in Retford, will feature expert speakers focusing on three key areas: what is new in the world of online search, the latest trends in social media and how businesses can make the best use of the data they hold to deliver products and services to their customers.

There will also be opportunities to connect with like-minded businesses, with networking time on the day.

Councillor Jo White, Cabinet Member for Regeneration at Bassetlaw District Council, added:  "This is a great opportunity to get free access to digital expertise that can help local businesses grow and prosper.

“The digital world never stands still and I am grateful for the East Midlands Chamber and D2N2 Digital Growth Programme for bringing this event to North Nottinghamshire. I’d encourage businesses to get involved and become better connected.”

The DGP is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).  It has so far engaged with almost 1,700 SMEs across the D2N2 area, with over £2.2m of grant projects being delivered to help SMEs use new technology within their business to increase productivity.

Diane added:  “We are lucky to have so many expert consultants working with us which means, together with partners, we are able to stage an excellent line up that will be of great value to attendees.

“Time and time again businesses tell us how much they take away from the workshops and events that we run – not just thinking about the high-level strategy, but gaining some really practical and low-cost ideas that they can put into practice easily.

“We are certainly looking forward to this event and are delighted to be working in partnership to support the local business community.”
