Councillor Grants support WI members

Members of the Worksop WI have benefitted from a donation of £300 thanks to a collection of grants from Bassetlaw Councillors.

It meant the some of the members were able to make their annual trip to Denman, the WI’s own residential college in Marcham, Oxfordshire.

Worksop WI President, Christine John, said: “We’d like to thank the Councillors for their generous donation. It is extremely important for our members to go on excursions like this and take part in group activities and be an active part of the WI community.”

Cllr Julie Leigh, Ward Member for Worksop South, who presented the cheque, said: “Councillor grants exist to enhance communities and enable positive experiences for groups like the WI. As councillors we are thrilled to be able to help and provide assistance where we can.”

The funds were donated to the WI as part of Councillor Community Grants from Cllr Julie Leigh and Cllr Cliff Entwistle, Ward Member for Worksop East.
