Snipe Park in Harworth and Bircotes will be the first place in Bassetlaw to have two brand new pieces of interactive play equipment designed specifically for youths and teenagers.
The Yalp Fono DJ Table and the Yalp Sona will be installed and ready to use in the New Year thanks to a joint project between Harworth and Bircotes Town Council and Bassetlaw District Council, with £30,000 of funding provided by the District Council and £30,000 by Nottinghamshire County Council’s Local Improvement Scheme.
The Yalp Fono DJ-table is an entirely new form of play developed with teenagers as the main focus. Made especially for the outdoors, it allows teenagers to play, mix, and share the music on their mobile phones.
While the eye-catching Yalp Sona can be used to play a host of audio-based interactive games via a motion-sensitive camera in the top of the arch which observes and co-ordinates the user’s movement.
Cllr June Evans, Chairman of Harworth and Bircotes Town Council, said: “It’s great that Snipe Park is the first play area in Bassetlaw to have this modern, interactive equipment - I have no doubt whatsoever that local youngsters will get great enjoyment from it. I’m delighted that both Nottinghamshire County Council and Bassetlaw District Council have been able to support this project.”
Cllr Sheila Place, County Councillor for Blyth and Harworth, said: “This will be a fantastic addition to the park and I hope that it will provide a safe and enjoyable place for young people to play. The County Council’s Local Improvement Scheme is in existence to provide funding for projects that improve communities, just like this one.”
