The flood warning previously put in place by the Environment Agency for Retford has now been downgraded to a flood alert. We are asking residents to remain vigilant and continue to check flooding alerts relating to where they live.
Nottinghamshire County Council has a flooding help and advice page which details the steps you can take if your home has been flooded.
Where you can, please avoid entering flood water, this includes water that may still be present, and close to rivers, including Kings’ Park. It may look calm but it could become fast flowing at any moment. There could also be hidden debris below the surface and the water may be contaminated.
If you’re driving through areas affected by rain or flooding, please drive safely and keep in mind the road conditions, never try to drive through flood water. You can keep up to date with road disruptions via Nottinghamshire County Council website.
A yellow weather warning remains in place from The Met Office for rain in Nottinghamshire until 4pm this afternoon. Keep updated on weather warnings via the Met Office.
A hardship fund has also been created for homes and small businesses that have been flooded.
Residents can receive a one-off payment of £120 and small businesses with up to 49 employees can receive up to £300. Please call Nottinghamshire Count Council on 0300 500 8080 for more information or to apply for the fund.
