Following nominations and an online election, Holly Foster, from Harworth, was elected as Bassetlaw’s first Youth Mayor and Malachi Carroll, from Worksop, was elected as the district’s Deputy Youth Mayor.
The Youth Mayor will be an ambassador for young people across the District and will attend events and perform duties that will recognise and celebrate the achievements and aspirations of young people in the district as Covid-19 restrictions are relaxed.
The new Youth Mayor and the Member of Youth Parliament for Bassetlaw will also produce a bi-annual newsletter. A blog and updates will be posted on Facebook and on the Youth Council page of our website.
Holly Foster, Youth Mayor for Bassetlaw, said: “I’m excited to celebrate the achievements of young people whilst I’m Youth Mayor. It’s so important that the youth are recognised for their awesomeness.”
Malachi Carroll, Deputy Youth Mayor for Bassetlaw, said: “I would like to thank everybody who has voted for me and I look forward to serving Bassetlaw as Deputy Youth Mayor for 2021-2022.”
