Hackney Carriage private hire driver - Renewals of Combined Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Drivers Licences

Renewals of Combined Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Drivers Licences

Those who already hold a Combined Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Drivers Licence with Bassetlaw District Council can apply to renew their licence at the with Personnel Checks. Please contact them for further information on 01254 355662

Once you have received your DBS Certificate you will need to make an appointment to visit one of the Licensing Enforcement Officers to submit the application and fee, bringing with you the following documentation:

  • The completed application form
  • DBS Certificate and certificate of good conduct (if required)
  • Three colour passport size photographs taken within the last month. Please note: no sunglasses or hats to be worn
  • The appropriate fee for either a one, two or three-year driver’s licence
  • Evidence that you have attended the Safeguarding Vulnerable Person Training and passed the assessment (see above)
  • Proof of your entitlement to work as a Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Driver in the UK

It is your responsibility to ensure a renewal applicant is made prior to the expiry of an existing licence.  If you fail to make and complete the renewal process before the expiry date of your current licence a new licence WILL NOT be issued by the Department in the interim. A licence will only be issued once all checks have been completed to ensure you are a “fit and proper person” to hold a licence. If you fail to renew your licence within one month from the date of expiry (of your old licence) you will be treated as a new driver and will be required to submit an application on this basis before a licence will be issued (see above).

In certain cases, applications may need to be referred to the Licensing Committee. In these cases the Licensing Committee will make a decision on the application.

Please note that cheques or postal orders should be made payable to Bassetlaw District Council.  Debit and Credit cards are acceptable via telephone or at the Council Offices in Retford or main reception at Queen’s Buildings, Worksop.  We are unable to accept cash payments.
